The 2011 USAPL Alaska State Meet had 34 lifters - the largest turnout in at least a decade! The meet was held at Southside Strength & Fitness, which is owned by Hal Lloyd, M3 Best Master Lifter at the meet.
Some highlights of the competition include Dusty, Cody, Wyatt and Rob qualifying for USAPL Mens' Nationals in June. The Best Open lifter of the competition was Dusty Farrow, with a 464 Wilkes at 198 lbs. bodyweight. Best Teen lifter was Cody Burnett. Cody is 17 and just competed in the Brown's Gym Pro Meet at the Arnold. Cody trains with his grandfather, Ron Burnett, our state chairman, IPF referee and former IPF lifter. Priscilla Ribic's son, Wyatt, came in 2nd place in the Open Teen 220 lbs. class.
M3 lifter, Hal Lloyd, got best Master Lifter, including a 540 lbs. deadlift at 98 kilos bodyweight. Rob Schmidt took first place in the Men's Open 110, second place overall, and qualified for USAPL Mens' Nationals with a 1703 total. Danny Autrey also had a great meet and took 2nd place for the Overall Best Raw lifter.
